How information is handled.

Last updated July 1, 2026.

Information collected automatically

Oral Compass uses Google Analytics 4 to understand site traffic and improve educational content. Its standard implementation can collect usage and session statistics, approximate location, and browser and device information. Google Analytics may store a client identifier in a first-party cookie named _ga.

The site's hosting and security providers may also process standard technical request information needed to deliver and protect the website.

When an email form is shown or used, Oral Compass may record basic signup-source and placement data to understand how the form is performing. This measurement does not include email addresses, symptoms, dental history, treatment information, or other personal health information.

Information you choose to send

If you choose to sign up for occasional Oral Compass general-education communications, we collect your email address for that requested purpose. Please do not include symptoms, dental history, treatment information, or other personal health information in an email signup form. If you email Oral Compass directly, the message, email address, and information you include are used to respond, evaluate corrections, maintain appropriate records, and protect the site. The contact inbox is not a clinical service. Do not send medical records, emergency requests, or sensitive personal health information.

Current site features

Oral Compass has no user accounts, comments, payments, or advertising. Email signup is optional, and Oral Compass uses a submitted email address only for the occasional communications requested by the reader. During the manual-first workflow, contact Oral Compass to unsubscribe or request removal. Oral Compass does not sell personal information.

Service providers and storage

Google Analytics, the site's hosting and email-forwarding providers, and a private Google Sheet used during the manual-first workflow process information for the purposes described above. The private Google Sheet stores submitted subscriber information so Oral Compass can send the requested communications. Storage and service providers may change as the system matures; this notice will be updated when material practices change.

Your choices

Browser controls can limit or clear cookies. Google also provides a Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Some site measurements may be unavailable after blocking analytics.

Children's privacy

This site provides information for adults and families but is not intended to collect personal information directly from children. A parent or guardian should contact Oral Compass on a child's behalf.

Contact and changes

Privacy questions may be sent to contact@oralcompass.org. This notice may be updated as the site and its services change.
